We’re Here for Our Community
Mission and Purpose:
At WEAC, our mission is to promote the well-being and development of the East African community in Washington. We are committed to leveraging our resources, assets, and income solely for corporate purposes that align with our charitable objectives. This includes supporting education, cultural awareness, community outreach, and other initiatives that enhance the lives of our members.
Organizational Structure:
WEAC is governed by a dedicated Board of Directors composed of seven individuals. We hold annual meetings for the election of directors and to address various matters relevant to our community. Special meetings may be called by the President or the Board of Directors, ensuring inclusivity through electronic communication technology when necessary.
Directors and Committees:
Our Board of Directors plays a crucial role in overseeing the organization. Directors are elected for three-year terms, and committees may be appointed to address specific needs. Adverse interests of a director do not disqualify them from voting, promoting transparency and fairness. Join us at WEAC as we strive to create a welcoming and thriving East African community.
